For the many that remember what Port
Harcourt Old G.R.A used to look like they would surely agree that the trees
that lined its streets were the stuff that made their childhood days exciting.
Economic trees dominated the
green-verge and returning from school had its fun attractions. Stopping to pick
the odd Guava or Mango or picking the rubber plant seeds to play with during
break time were fun times with friends playing “tron trow”. Going down memory
lane makes one want to call for action to bring back our tree planting culture.

| Let's resolve to plant more trees in front of our buildings instead of allowing street traders |
I wonder though what would have been
that case had some trees not been there to clean up the pollution in the air
called “sooth”. It could have been worse without them to say the least. Can we
plan more trees? Though not directly under power lines.
